Saron Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, part of the Rocky Mountain Synod

Our History

Saron Lutheran Church was established in Adams County by Norwegian immigrants in 1911. They first met at Hill Top School and chartered as "Saron Sandinavisk Lutherisk Menighed." The name was changed to its present day form on December 8, 1920. "Saron" is Norwegian for "Sharon," a reference to the Sharon Plain which constitutes the northern half of the coastal plain of modern-day Israel. It is mentioned in the Bible and seemed appropriate for a church established on the high plains of Eastern Colorado.

Saron built a church in 1941 at 1656 Main Street in Strasburg. Through the fundraising of the Women's group, two additions have been made over the years to accommodate the growing numbers of attendees and the need for fellowship and educational activities.

Located on I-70, Saron Lutheran Church continues to serve God, the local community, nomads and homesteaders alike.
